In Search Of: The "Great" Day
I WAS MUSING THIS MORNING about what makes for a "great" day. Not a "perfect" day, but a great one. We're short-tenured here, after all, and I feel it's important to give each day you've got a shot at greatness (I'll save further platitudes; for more see Jobs, Steve, xref Pancreatic Cancer).
The challenge is to know what great is. What makes a Great Day? For me, a Great Day involves taking pleasure and meaning from simple things. I've had a Great Day if I've managed to:
- Get some exercise (preferably breaking a sweat)
- Spend some time outside
- Listen to some music that stirs an emotion, regardless of the emotion
- See something beautiful
- Eat something good -- fresh, not processed. Scrambled eggs and ham would count
- Spend time with Kate
That's about it. Nothing too deep or philosophical, but all meaningful for me. So far today I'm three for six. Still time to get outside with Kate and see something beautiful, though.
Perhaps there's a meme in this. So I'll stick Rebecca, Brent, and Jake with the question: What constitutes a Great Day in your book? Comments are welcome, too.
